On 29 March 2017,  SIA ““Ventspils nafta” termināls” (VNT) received first place in the global Tank Storage Awards in the category Safety Excellence in Bulk Liquid Storage.

The Tank Storage Awards are organised by the leading UK-based publication “Tank Storage Magazine” to highlight those companies that excel in a range of different categories relating to safety, innovation and overall storage achievements. The award winners are chosen by a panel of independent international judges from across the sector, and this year the results were announced at the industry’s exclusive award ceremony in Rotterdam on 29 March.

VNT was recognised as the winner in the category “Safety Excellence in Bulk Liquid Storage” receiving an award for its comprehensive focus on the main areas where safety is a must. In its interaction with the community, VNT specialists give lectures on ergonomics, civil protection and fire safety at schools and universities. VNT organises Family Safety days for the families of its employees and arranges excursions. Every year around 18 interns undergo internship at VNT, including the HSEQ Division, where the students expand their knowledge about safety.

High safety standards of the company have been also recognised by governmental and non-governmental organisations. In 2017 VNT took 2nd place at the prestigious Baltic Communication Awards in the category Internal Communication for its safety-related project “Life Saving Rules. Fun and Discipline”.
