JSC “Latvian Shipping Company” ranks in gold category in the Sustainability Index

On Thursday, June 1, JSC “Latvian Shipping Company” (LSC) ranked in the gold category in the 2017 Sustainability Index for high corporate responsibility and sustainable management.

“Both strategically and during every day work we make sure that the company operates responsibly toward environment protection and the safety of our employees. This year’s high evaluation by the Sustainability Index experts and the status “Family friendly company”, delights and motivates the whole LSC team to continue delivering highly professional services in compliance with international safety standards,” outlines the Chairman of the LSC Management Board Robert Kirkup.

LSC participated in the Sustainability Index for the third year. Last year the experts in corporate responsibility and sustainability evaluated the company’s performance and also awarded it with the gold category, in 2015 – the silver category. For the second year in a row LSC received the status of “Family friendly company” for highly professional performance towards its employees, including the work done to create a safe working environment.

By qualifying for the gold category of the Sustainability Index, LSC confirms that it is among the companies that demonstrate openness and transparency, aspires to expand and adapts its risk management processes by including in the most relevant aspects of corporate responsibility.

Sustainability Index is organised in Latvia for the eight year, it is a strategic management instrument based on experience of the most influential global indices Dow Jones Sustainability Index and Business in the Community CR Index, and their internationally recognised methodology in five categories: strategy, work environment, market relations, environment, and society or the local community. Partners of the initiative are the Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Institute, Employers’ Confederation of Latvia and the Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia.
